Squirt Cycling Products has been trusted by mountain bikers to keep their bicycles clean and drivetrains running smoothly at FNB Wines2Whales since 2010, the Swiss Epic since 2018 and at the Absa Cape Epic since 2019. Now the South African brand has extended their involvement with the IRONMAN®️ Group’s global Epic Series. The relationship sees Squirt Cycling Products become the official Bicycle Care Products partners of the Epic Series.
Along with the pinnacle Absa Cape Epic event the series includes the Swiss Epic in Graubünden, The Pioneer fuelled by Nuti-Grain, FNB Wines2Whales, the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees, Reef to Reef, Cape to Cape, Port to Port and the newly acquired 4Islands MTB Croatia. Participants in the Epic Series can gain Epic Legend status by completing the Absa Cape Epic and two legend status events, like the Swiss Epic, The Pioneer and 4Islands MTB. They can also earn guaranteed entries to the highly sought-after Untamed African Mountain Bike Race through performances in the other Epic Series events or by entering the Absa Cape Epic Draw Allocation at one of the series races.

Squirt Cycling Products are ideally placed to support a global event portfolio due to their extensive distribution network. The challenging circumstances of the last few years have enforced innovation. During 2017 the Western Cape was gripped by a terrible drought, which resulted in Squirt Cycling Products creating a water catchment system for the Squirt Bike Wash which they have operated at FNB Wines2Whales for over a decade. This water recycling system, which uses non-potable water initially, is now used at the Absa Cape Epic too. In 2021 the Squirt Bike Wash used 4 562 litres of concentrated Squirt Biodegradable Bike Cleaner to keep the bikes of the 250 teams who participated in the Absa Cape Epic clean.
“Another innovation we are very proud of is our Squirt Chain Lube Eco Box,” Van Wyk pointed out. “It allows cyclists to bring their empty Squirt Chain Lube applicator bottles to their local bike shops and have them refilled, rather than throwing away the plastic bottle. It’s another small step we, as Squirt Cycling Products, have been able to make to reduce our output of single-use plastics.”
